I started a coffee company to make it up to my parents. The grown-ups handle the roasting. I handle the early wake-ups. This dark roast is Dad’s cup—the one for mornings that start before the sun does.
My mom drinks the 4:40 AM one. Before it, she doesn't talk. After it, she sings. I prefer after.
I kept my dad up until three. He had two cups of Tummy Time and took me to the park anyway.
My parents fight over the last bag. I've started hiding it. They don't know it's me.
